About Enterprise Portals

The Enterprise Portal is an emerging technology which is still rapidly evolving. Early Enterprise Portals focused on the presentation of an organisation's operational information as a 'digital dashboard' to assist the corporate decision making process. More recently, the remit of the Enterprise Portal has been expanded to incorporate knowledge base presentation, collaboration tools, personalisation, and news and syndicated content tie-ins. This has taken the Enterprise Portal out of the boardroom and into the wider organisation and beyond; to partners, suppliers and customers.

The Syrox Enterprise Portal solution can be tailored to a wide range of applications, and may be easily extended to provide additional functionality or support integration with internal and external data sources. Below are the two most common Enterprise Portal scenarios:

Corporate or Enterprise Portal

Also known as Enterprise Information Portals (EIPs), these portals are designed for business to enterprise (B2E) processes, activities and communities, and to enhance the access and distribution of intellectual content across the organisation. They also incorporate a whole host of business processes such as roles, workflow, collaboration and CMS and AMS solutions.

Business to Customer (B2C)

B2C portals extend the Enterprise Portal to the customer base for the purpose of distributing specific intellectual content and for streamlining business processes such as CRM, ordering, account handling and customer service. Business to business (B2B) portals open up the Enterprise Portal to suppliers and partners, transforming and strengthening the supplier chain process by improving resource management and partner relationships.
