To help raise awareness of the high profile Laureus World Sports Awards, Laureus turned to Syrox to provide a comprehensive asset management system. The Laureus Archive makes available to the media a wide range of print quality photography relating to the awards and related events, and of the sportspersons, stars and personalities that attend them.

The prestigious Laureus World Sports Awards, held annually to celebrate sporting achievement, is only a part of the activities of the Laureus Group. The Group was established in 2000 by DaimlerChrysler and Richmont to promote sport as a force for positive social and individual change across the world. Other aspects of the group's work include the Sport for Good Foundation and the World Sports Academy.

In order to raise the profile of the awards and other events, Laureus commissioned Syrox to build a website to distribute photography and other assets to the media, especially with respect to the week long programme of events around the annual awards ceremony, held until recently in Monaco . To capitalise on the exposure offered by the TV, newspaper, magazine and, increasingly, web based media, it was important that images be quickly made available on the archive as events take place.

The Laureus archive is an asset management and delivery system, built around a high performance server and a content and asset publishing application. The archive allows media users to search and browse images and to download print quality files at no cost.

Images are organised into catalogues, where each catalogue represents a Laureus event or activity. Users may search for images a number of ways; in date order, by keywords, by catalogue and within a specific date range. Images may be immediately downloaded or stored in a virtual 'light box', which may be downloaded as a single zip file.

Laureus users administer the archive using a thin client extension to the website that allows them to add, edit and delete images and control users and access from anywhere in the world - a feature that has proved extremely valuable in providing real time photo coverage of the awards ceremonies and other events.
