An asset management system, built and managed
by Syrox, allowed FIFA to replace a costly and inefficient artwork
supply process with a streamlined digital archive to distribute
a large number of reproduction materials to its
commercial affiliates (official partners, official suppliers and
licensees), local organising committees,
host cities, broadcast partners and FIFA users and their suppliers,
with fine-grained access control and an end-to-end approval process.
The Fédération Internationale de Football Association
(FIFA) was founded in 1904 in Paris. Constantly growing, FIFA
now has over 200 member associations, making it one of the world's
largest sports organisations. In addition to the FIFA World Cup™,
the organisation regulates and governs many championships and events
including the FIFA Women's World Cup, FIFA Confederations Cup,
FIFA World Youth Championship and FIFA U-17 World Championship,
etc.
To promote the organisation and to raise awareness of its activities,
FIFA forms close ties with an elite group of partners, licensees
and suppliers, and licenses the use of a wide range of branded
artwork for these companies to use in promotion and marketing.
To control and manage the distribution of this artwork, FIFA turned
to Allsport, a part of Getty Images, and Syrox to develop a flexible,
scalable asset management solution.
The
FIFA Digital Archive is a high performance repository for a large
number of graphical artwork files, animations and other assets,
and acts as a secure distribution and approval channel for thousands
of users in a wide range of commercial affiliates, Local Organising
Committees, host cities, broadcast partners, FIFA users and their
suppliers. Registered users can browse the archive, where artwork
and other assets relating to FIFA events and activities are presented,
and download files for use in print, web and TV promotional campaigns.
Through flexible content management, FIFA can configure the archive
to present custom personalised content at various levels right
down to the individual asset and user. With easy to use WYSIWYG
editing tools that look and work like familiar word processing
programmes, non-technical FIFA staff can author content for the
system with a minimum of training.
A thin client web based administration interface allows full control
over the content of the archive, from any web browser anywhere
in the world. Powerful access control systems ensure that users
only see the assets and content that they are supposed to see.
Through the use of intelligent hierarchical trees, large numbers
of assets, users
and content can be handled easily without duplication of data.
To monitor and track assets, the FIFA Digital Archive features
an end-to-end approval process that records downloads of assets
and allows users to submit proposed usage information for approval
by FIFA. With comprehensive reporting and statistics, detailed
information on asset usage and other aspects of archive activity
can be reviewed.
