ShopCurious is an online fashion/lifestyle retail site owned by fashion renowned Susan Muncey. Susan is best known for Fashion Gallery, the cult Little Venice boutique she ran in the late 90s, when both the shop and Susan became a big fashion story.
Susan approached Syrox with a new venture, the launch of ShopCurious. Susan wanted to use her experience at Fashion Gallery to develop a new website, specialising in unique fashion finds, quirky vintage accessories, unusual gifts and curiosities for the home. She wanted to create a site that was not purely commercial, but a work of art itself. Susan researched hard for a web design agency that could meet her brief for flexibility and design.
The brief was to develop a website that conveyed Susan’s passion and curiosity for life in finding beautiful and inspiring things for people to enjoy. She wanted to offer a refreshingly unique shopping experience, a backlash against the must-have consumer frenzy of the branded goods brigade.
Susan also wanted to showcase her sense of style and flair for putting outfits together to create an individual look, so she has carefully chosen items to be featured as additional links on the product pages to interest customers in related accessories. In this way, customers who like a partiular dress may also be attracted by the bangle, the necklace, the hat, bag and shoes.
Finally, Susan not only wanted the website to be an online shop but a
forum to showcase and promote new and emerging talent. Through the use
of an off-site blog and on-site news and articles sections Susan has
been busy typing away - creating a loyal cult following for all things
Syrox worked with Susan to develop a completely new brand for her
e-commerce venture which would fit in with her ethos for selecting
natural materials and fibres, handcrafted items, designs with
personality and timeless style.
We provided her with a site that is meticulously maintained by
Susan herself, who keeps the site updated throughout with regular style
and trend updates, as well as maintaining the affiliated ShopCurious
Since its launch, in May 2008, the site has appeared in numerous ‘best web design’ galleries, Sunday glossies and has become a firm favourite for style and fashion editors for many leading fashions magazines. Items from ShopCurious have even been modelled by Kylie Minogue on the front cover of Elle Magazine, and Susan continues to grow an eclectic client base.
Through her blogging, style trends articles and product descriptions Susan has built a loyal social network as well as the all important high search engine page ranking through the use of relevant content and site linking.
