Syrox built an interactive CD ROM to help 3M raise awareness about
and promote a new treatment for warts. Using custom built 3D animated
models of skin sections and cells, the CD ROM illustrates the lifecycle
of the human papilloma virus and the effect of this revolutionary
treatment, and features voiceovers in a number of languages for
international use.
Aldara (also known as Imiquimod), developed and produced by 3M
Pharmaceuticals, is a new medication for the treatment of genital
warts. As part of 3M's awareness and education campaign, Syrox
teamed up with Ethical Strategies, a pharmaceutical marketing communications
company, to produce an interactive CD ROM demonstrating the mechanism
of action of the various stages of the immune response when Aldara
is used in the treatment of the human papilloma virus.
This stand-alone interactive CD ROM features continuous 3D animated
models of skin sections, blood vessels, lymph nodes and cells with
synchronised voiceover and embedded video. It presents a time-lapse
illustration of all the stages of the virus, from infection, treatment,
immune response and reaction to re-infection. To date Syrox have
produced versions of the CD ROM translated into 5 languages. It
has also been nominated for a number of educations and medical
communications awards both in Europe and America.
